Jade Dercksen

I am self-taught; exploring lines, oil, acrylic and emulsion paints to create artworks that hold these distinctive parts cohesively. As I´ve started to realise my dream of being an artist, it´s become evident that creating has always been my meditative practice. Art is something that defines me.

Over the last few years, I had the opportunity to spend more time delving into different mediums and discovered my distinctive style. I fell in love with the methodical practice of drawing lines as it gave me a quiet space to think (or not) , feel (or not) and switch off from the outside world. For this reason I incorporate this element into all works; it´s my favourite moment of the creation process. Now, I work mainly with large canvases, combining monochrome subjects, with  expressive backgrounds to evoke moods and emotions. The line work adds a different dimension which offers the viewer a space to wonder and feel. Each element tells its own story in each art piece. The unique blend of these styles, conveys my emotions and experiences.

 The artworks aim to capture the feeling of a certain moment.

For me, words fall short in describing the depth of a picture. Through my art, I seek to resonate with viewers on a level that words cannot reach, inviting them to explore their own emotions and connect with the visual narratives I weave.
